LIFE KILLS | THE PEEP-SHOW • TOM REBL
The show concept of the performance is based on the juxtaposition of the male and female gender. The performers become dancing dolls without identifiable gender features wearing customized orange zentai body suits with primitive patchwork embroidery. Loosing gender identity drastically changes the interaction between humans. Movements become genderfluid and peak in a floating-like status in outer space.
This is opposed to stereotypical and aggressive role plays between the male and female performers, when he acts out his predator-prey behaviour without disguise. This controversy gets exaggerated with features like stroboscopic light effects, bursting black balloons, the naked male body and industrial techno music.
Initially, the spectator is only the voyeur but by watching he unintentionally changes sides and becomes part of the performance and absorbed by the unlimited reflections of this controversial genderplay.
